March 16th 2010
After temperatures of over 65 degrees this last weekend,
the only snow that is left is scattered spots where large piles once were.
Club members are planning to pick up trails signs before they are stolen or the
farmers want to get in the fields. This means that for all practical
purposes, the trails are closed for the year regardless of how much snow might
come in a big storm.
See you next fall......
March 10th 2010
The weather has been cloudy and rainy. The snow is melting
faster than Tucker Hibbert at the X games. The AWSC convention is this weekend
and the clubs are winding down their meetings. This does not mean our work
is done. Come the end of the month, signs will have to come down,
landowners will be contacted to assure access next season, and charity and
fundraiser events will take place. If you have any suggestions for next
years trails, now is the time to bring them up to your local club. Joining
a club is a great way to stay informed about issues with our sport.
Our trails may be done for the year, but keep them in mind for possible improvements for next year. Don't forget to summerize your sled properly so next season starts out on a good note. Hope you have enjoyed your rides this season and hope next season is even better.
Remember to check the calendar winners, if you have a change of address please let us know by emailing me at laxsnowmobile@yahoo.com. Thank you.
Thursday, Feb.25
The La Crosse County Snowmobile Trails will be closed Sat.
morning Feb. 27. Above freezing temperatures, heavy weekend traffic and lack of
snow have left several bare spots throughout the county. Please respect the
rights of property owners and stay off closed trails.
Watching the weather on Sunday night, Feb.
28th the forecasted temps will possibly end the trails for the season. We
would like to thank everyone who helped make the trails as good as they can be,
this includes the landowners, sponsors, and club members who sign the trails,
attain the landowners permission, groomed the trails, and regularly check trails
for hazards, after March is over, they will be the ones removing the
snowmobile signs.
THANK YOU
If you enjoyed the trails this winter and do not currently
belong to a club consider joining one of La Crosse County's six clubs.
Membership is the best way to stay informed.

Thank you. for sending a map. I met five guys on sleds just North of La
Crosse over the weekend. They took me and my father on the trails through
your county and showed us the best weekend of riding I have ever had. They were
great and your trails were even better. They represented the fine state of
Wisconsin well...and they didn't even hold the whole Farve thing against
us...anyways your trails rock. Troy from MN

Hello,
I would like to thank all of your efforts this year again for the excellent
trail system. I am in the military living in West Salem and work at Fort
McCoy and on many occasions I ride the trail system to work. I have logged
on around 800 miles this year and the trails have held up very well. The
route from four corners to Bangor
was a great ride along with St Joe’s ridge our past Barre Mills is one of my
favorites as well. I would like to make a donation, so please give me the
address so I can get it in the mail. Again, great year and thanks for all
you do. 2000 Polaris Indy 500 (488 fuji) Bullet

Good
morning.
I just wanted to say GREAT job grooming the trails with the snow cover we
have. I was afraid the warm weather has taken a toll, and was I wrong. I rode
the bike trail from 2 Brothers to Bangor , then from Bangor
to Mindoro last night, and everything was freshly groomed and in Excellent
condition!!! Even the woods were flat, snow covered and very few if any bare
spots. Just wanted to say thanks for an awesome ride last night. Keep up the
great work!!!!

We appreciate any and all comments. Please send them in!
The Onalaska Sno-Drifters have been hard at work adding some spurs to the Great River trail in Onalaska to access The Shadow Run Lodge and the Blue Moon restaurant. The second spur will take you to the Kwik Trip, Seven Bridges Restaurant and the Lake Motel. To my knowledge, these are the only motels with trail access in all of La Crosse County. Please remember that Onalaska still has a curfew, snowmobiles are not allowed in the city after 10:30 PM, access to these businesses are included under the curfew.
